While most of the world is focused on fighting obesity (which is a large scale problem,) a lot of people tend to forget that being significantly underweight can also be a major health concern. It is essential to at least maintain a body mass index that is consistent with your height and sex. Anybody whose weight is around 10 or 20% less than the ideal body mass index is considered to be underweight.
Being underweight is an extremely common in the third world countries, mainly as a result of lack of sufficient food amongst the lower classes of society. However, the condition could also be a result of hereditary where it has been passed down from one generation to another within the same bloodline. Some of the other causes of being underweight include eating disorders such as bulimia and anorexia where the individual induces vomiting in order to remove any consumed food from the body. Being underweight could also be the result of over training when competing in endurance sports, skipping meals and other unhealthy eating habits as well as the presence of intestinal worms and sequel disorders. Some other symptoms that will be present when a person is underweight include fatigue, significantly poor physical stamina as well as a lowering of the body’s resistance to infection.
There are a number of ways to effectively and naturally gain the amount of weight required to be able to lead a healthier life. One of the best habits that help normalize a person’s weight would be to develop a habit of drinking a glass of hot milk with a tablespoon of honey every day, before going to sleep. You could also try having 30 grams of raisins every day over the course of a whole month while consuming 3 to 4 dry figs that have been immersed in water over the course of the night will prove as effective. You could also try taking a cup of milk and adding some almonds and date palms before boiling and drinking it. While gaining a sufficient amount of weight is helpful, it is essential that you consume the right kind of healthy foods. While eating French fries and other fast foods will help you put on weight, it will definitely not be the best idea for your overall health as it may take you to the other end of the spectrum where you find yourself to be overweight. You should also execute an exercise regime in order to build muscles – as they contribute to the overall mass of the body.
