Natural Remedy for Dandruff

Is egg good for dandruff
(24 Feb 2010)

Dandruff is one of the most common scalp conditions to suffer from and is characterized by the scaling of the skin on the scalp and is significantly aggravated by scratching. It is also usually accompanied by an acute burning or itching sensation. The entire problem of dandruff rises from the regeneration of the skin cells and whenever new cells are created, the older skin cells are usually pushed upwards and outwards of the scalp.

People whose scalps have faster levels of regeneration, the amount of dead skin that needs to be shed is much higher and more frequent – thereby causing the dandruff to be more noticeable.  While this theory is unproven as yet, some doctors believe that dandruff is also caused as a result of the sebaceous glands producing either too much or too little oil to the scalp. One of the most common causes of dandruff is the presence of a skin condition known as seborrheic dermatitis. This condition can affect skin on any part of the body but when it affects the skin on the scalp, it is usually referred to as dandruff because it results in the flaking and shedding of skin. However, the main difference between the two is the fact that this condition causes larger and greasier flakes to b shed than when compared to dandruff. Some of the other factors include a faulty nutrition – one which lacks essential components such as B vitamins, Zinc and omega – 3 fats, stress or even a reaction to one of the easily available hair care products.

Because of the fact that dandruff is so common, there are a number of effective home remedies that have been developed over the centuries. One of the most effective options would be to apply some amount of tea tree oil over the affected areas of your scalp as its anti fungal and anti biotic properties will significantly help treat any yeast presence that could be the primary causing factor. You can create a mixture of coconut oil and lime juice which should be thoroughly massaged into your scalp on a frequent basis for a rather fast treatment of the condition. Your diet will also play a very significant role in preventing the onset of dandruff as this will help the scalp cells receive the right kind of nutrition internally through the bloodstream. Any fruits containing citrus, bananas and tinned fruits should be avoided. Eggs are also very effective in treating the condition and for best results; you should beat a couple of eggs and add 2 tablespoons of dandruff should then be thoroughly massaged into your scalp. Leave it on for about 15 minutes before you was it off with the help of some lukewarm water.
