How do you get rid of spots and blackheads without cream?

Blackheads are dark spots on the skin which result from the accumulation of oil and dust in skin pores. The sebaceous glands within the skin secrete a natural oil called sebum, which sometimes clogs the pores, hardens and becomes dark on coming into contact with air. These are called blackheads.

The easiest way to prevent blackheads and dark spots is to keep your face clean. Wash your face well with slightly warm water at regular intervals through the day and before going to bed at night.

  • You could also make a face pack by mixing gram flour and yoghurt and apply it on blackheads. After the paste dries wash it off gently with cold water.
  • Apply a paste of sandalwood powder or alternatively fuller’s earth and rose water to prevent blackheads.
  • Mix equal amounts of lemon juice and tomato juice and apply it on your face twice a day. Tomato juice and lemon juice are acidic in nature and help to slough off the upper layer of skin which reduces dark spots visibly. They also help to control sebum production.
  • Another effective face pack for treating blackheads is a paste of orange peel powder and water. Apply this pack daily on your face.
  • You could also wipe your face with cucumber peel, as it not only cleanses dirt and oil from the skin pores but also moisturizes the skin.
  • Grind oatmeal and almonds in a little rosewater and apply this on the blackheads.
  • Grape juice prevents excessive oiliness of the skin, so applying the pulp or the juice of grapes on the face and then washing it off with lukewarm water is an effective remedy for blackheads
  • You could also warm a little honey and apply it on the affected areas. After it dries, wash your face with cold water.
  • A mixture of cornstarch and vinegar may also be applied on blackheads and left on for half an hour. Then it should be washed off with cold water.
  • Roast the peel of a pomegranate, grind it to a fine dust and then mix it well with fresh lime juice. Now apply this paste on your face. Wash it off after 15 minutes. This effectively remedies blackheads, whiteheads and dark spots.
  • Once every day, wash your face with warm water and then apply fresh lime juice to which a pinch of salt has been added on the blackheads.
  • You could also use a face pack made by grinding to a pulp drumstick pods and leaves and mixing it with lime juice.
  • A solution of boric powder boiled in a cup of water can also be used as a face cleanser.
