You can get rid of dark circles for most part by tackling the cause of the dark circles to begin with. The commonest cause of dark circles around the eyes is a regular lack of sleep. If you have been suffering from insomnia or have been unable to sleep for some reason, then you should visit a doctor immediately.

Make sure you get a regular eight hours of sleep each night. This will help to get rid of half the problem in any case. If your problem does not lie here, then you can check the second factor – heredity.

If you have inherited this problem, then be aware that there is not much you can do to get rid of it. However, there are some remedial measures you can try at home. For starters, you can start by   massaging your dark circles with pure vitamin E cream or oil. This is not only positive in terms of improving the quality and texture of the skin in the area; it is also good to get rid of things such as wrinkles. You can do this each night before going to bed for best results. The other thing you can do is make it a point to get a facial each month without fail. This will help to improve the overall quality of your skin, and not just the dark circles alone.

Try to use a facial that also includes a mild bleaching program. This would indicate using a fruit or citrus based facial pack. You are better off getting it professionally done instead of trying to do it yourself as well. Mash an over ripe banana, and work some fresh cream and a strand of saffron into it. You can make and store this under eye cream refrigerated for a period of one.   Make it a rule to apply this under your eyes each morning for at least a half hour before you have a bath. This will yield excellent results within a couple of weeks or so. You can also cleanse the under eye area each night before bedtime with a few drops of lime juice mixed with a tablespoon of water. This will mildly bleach the area and will also help to make the skin color considerably lighter quickly. Make a paste out of equal amounts of mashed raw tomato, potato and cucumber. Apply this paste to your dark circles and allow them to dry completely before washing it off with warm water. Tomato helps with blood circulation and potato has natural bleaching properties while cucumbers are cooling and will reduce inflammation.
