A tooth abscess is not actually in your tooth, but rather in the area surrounding the root or the tip of your tooth. In almost all cases, the abscess is caused by a bacterial infection that causes pus to gather and so the skin sweklls up into an abscess. When troubled with an abscess in your tooth, the best way to go is always to find out exactly why this has happened.
There are very few reasons why a person could be suffering from a tooth abscess, so that makes it easy for you to determine the exact reason. There are several easy and highly effective methods you can use to get rid of a tooth abscess. However, before you start trying them out at home, you should make an attempt to consult a dentist. The simple reason for this is that it will be easy to get rid of an abscess at home if there is no infection involved. However, if you have managed to land up with an infection, you will have a very difficult time getting rid of the abscess all by yourself. Because infections also take a long time to heal without antibiotics, you do not want to prolong your suffering. So you are better off taking antibiotics and getting rid of the infection at least. This way, you will have an easier time dealing with the abscess as well. One of the best remedies to take care of a tooth abscess is to use a chilled tea bag on it. This is known to work very well. If you apply the moist tea bag on the tooth for about half an hour periodically, you will notice that the swelling and inflammation has subsided. Tea contains tannic acid which as an astringent is anti-inflammatory by nature. In order to keep your mouth sanitized when you are suffering from an abscess, you should rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mixture of diluted hydrogen peroxide. Use one part each of water and hydrogen peroxide for excellent results. If you add a bit of salt to this solution, it will also help with easing the pain.Salt also has anti-septic properties and so it helps to fight off the infection. Just remember to use hot water as the warmth will help to relieve the pain. You can also add a bit of turmeric powder to this solution for healing purposes. However, do keep in mind that after employing home remedies for a couple of days if you do not see any kind of change, then you should consult a dentist, as it is illogical to wait any longer.
