Head Lice Treatment

I am 18 with headlice. I have tried every remedy on here, I can't figure it out. Is there anyway to get rid of it and not having to comb through my hair either. I am so tired of combing it out.

Head lice are parasites that infest the hair and the scalp, often seasonally. They weaken the roots of hair and can even cause hair fall. This condition often arises because of lack of personal hygiene.

A few preventive measures can be adopted to avoid head lice, like washing the hair thoroughly every day and oiling not just the tips but the roots of the hair, and avoiding the use of shared combs and hairbrushes.

Besides these, there are several home remedies to get rid of lice:
  • The pungent smelling juice of onions is an effective means of killing lice. Apply the juice of one onion slowly and carefully on the scalp and leave it on for 3-4 hours.

Wash your hair properly after this, making sure that the dead lice are washed away. Repeat this procedure for a few days till all the lice are killed and removed.
  • A small portion of garlic paste to which a bit of lemon juice is added can be applied and left on overnight. The strong odorous chemicals in the garlic kill lice just as onion juice does. Wash your hair properly in the morning.
  • Grind a custard apple well and add a little water to it to make a fine paste for the scalp. Leave it on overnight. In the morning wash your hair properly to get rid of lice as well as dandruff.
  • You could also grind the seeds of a custard apple in a mixer grinder and apply the powder on your scalp before you go to bed at night. Use a cloth bandage to tie your head. Next morning wash your hair well
  • Add 2 teaspoons of vinegar to thrice the amount of clean water and apply it to the roots of hair. Using a wad of cotton, apply this solution carefully to the roots of your hair. Tie your head with a cloth bandage and leave it on overnight. Wash your hair in the morning.
  • The paste of finely chopped pieces of an apple can also be used to massage the scalp with vigorously for around 25 minutes once a day. Continue this procedure for three days. This delouses the head completely.
  • A pinch of camphor powder added to fresh coconut oil can be applied to the hair and left on overnight, and washed off in the morning. Repeat this process for 3-4 days to effectively get rid of lice.
