Dark circles are the second most common skin problem, number one being acne. Dark circles are caused by leaky capillaries and since the skin around our eyes is the thinnest, they show up more easily than on any other part. Blame the discoloration on heredity, age, bad lifestyle (lack of sleep, stress, lack of balanced diet, etc), overexposure to sun, allergies, etc, but it’s quite possible to deal with them by altering your lifestyle.
Drinking about 8-10 glasses of water everyday, get enough sleep, eat food rich in Vitamin E and Vitamin K like green vegetables and fruits, wear sunscreen and sunglasses every time you step out, give up junk food or any food that contains artificial flavors, quit smoking and drinking, keep your body detoxified and yes, be stress and depression free. And of course, traditional home remedies will also help you a great deal in tackling the moons under your eyes. Simply apply rose water or cucumber juice with cotton swab, to cool your eyes and get rid of pigmentation.
Applying a paste of pineapple juice and turmeric also helps. You can also apply a mixture of 2 tablespoons of tomato juice and 2 tablespoons of lemon juice on under eye area.
But the three most preferred products to rid of dark circles are potato, milk and almond. Potato has bleaching agents, so most people opt for raw and cold slices of potato, potato juice or grated potato. Soak a clean cotton pad or swab in the juice or apply the paste on the affected area and wash it off with cold water after 20 minutes. You can also mix equal amounts of potato juice and cucumber juice and apply it on the circles with clean cotton swab. Wash off the mix with cold water after leaving it on for 15 minutes. Alternatively, you can wash the eyes off with milk, which is another great agent to lighten the circles. You can apply just milk every night with a clean cotton swab, leave it on for 15 minutes and wash it off. Another way is to mix milk and rose petal extracts and applying it on the circles regularly. Make a teaspoonful of milk powder and honey mix and apply it on the under eye to get fast results. Almonds are also reliable in dealing with dark circles, whether you massage the under eyes with almond oil for 15 minutes regularly or make a paste of crushed almond and milk and apply and leave it on for 15-20 minutes. Just follow a healthy lifestyle along with any of these home remedies and you can prevent your eyes from looking raccoon-like.
