The cells contained in the prostate sometimes multiply frenziedly, leading to small tumors. This is termed as prostate cancer. The problem is the lack of regulation and control over your body’s cellular growth.
Cancer cells no longer follow the pattern of regulated dividing, maturing and dying. They only lead to additional abnormal cells. Tumor is the term given to these abnormal cell growths. While the tumors are still small, prostate cancer has a high rate of cure. The usual procedure for this type of cancer is typically surgery or radiation. The objective of these interventions is to eliminate the growth of the cancerous cells. The worrying part is that you’ll find little or possibly no symptoms when prostate cancer can be cured. Detection is thus rather hard. Another alarming statistic is that, in the United States, this form is the most widely prevalent among non-skin cancers. In fact, out of 6 men, one will be affected by prostate cancer. To boost chances of being cancer free, men have to get it detected as early as possible. Thus, the importance of screening cannot be emphasized enough. Bear in mind that treatment is not a short term cure at all. Risk factors include age and genetic characteristics like family history and even race. As with many cancers, diet and lifestyle play a major role.
Newer treatments such as cryotherapy are often chosen instead of conventional ones. If you change your diet you can not only lower your risk of getting this form of cancer but also slow down its development. It also lowers your chances of recurrence. Diet has to be balanced and you have to undertake your regular exercise. This, along with weight loss can benefit you. Maintaining muscle mass becomes imperative. Your goal should be to get rid of excess body fat. High fiber diets can benefit such cancer patients. Stay away from unhealthy habits and foods. When it comes to fruits and vegetables, look for the more colorful variety. We’ve all heard how red meat isn’t really a healthy choice. For prostate cancer patients, leaner options like poultry or turkey can make a big difference. All patients with prostate cancer might not respond to home treatments. Do check with your oncologist as well as those who are likely to be affected by your treatment, before settling on an alternative. Remember that alternative prostate cancer treatments such as saw palmetto would probably work effectively only along with conventional ones.

A large percentage of men in their 50s and 60s suffer from one of the three prostate problems, i.e. prostatic hyperplasia or a non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate, prostates or inflammation of the prostate and prostate cancer. The most common is the first one and doctors have now started treating it as a normal consequence of advancing age amongst males. The prostate’s main function is to produce the seminal fluid that carries the sperm and it is located just below the bladder. Prostate problems are usually caused due to advancing age combined with an extremely sedentary lifestyle, constipation or irregular bowel syndrome and a promiscuously active sex life. The main symptoms of prostate problems include difficulty in urinating despite frequent urge to urinate. There can also be a burning sensation while urinating, pain behind the scrotum and pain during ejaculation. Prostate problems, if ignored and left untreated can lead to further complications, including bladder and kidney disease.
There are several home remedies that can help to reverse prostate problems. After the age of 45, all man should include a prostate examination as a part of their annual medical check-up to catch prostate cancer in its earliest stages and thus make treatment easier and more effective. Though it is not advisable to overactive or sexually promiscuous, you should not completely stop sexual activity after the age of 45 in order to allow the seminal liquid to be expelled from the prostate and thus reduce the swelling. You should also limit your intake of fatty foods, red meats and alcohol in order to prevent enlargement of the prostate and prostate cancer. Apart from that, you should drink the recommended 8 to 10 glasses of water daily to enable easy urination. Pumpkin seeds are beneficial for treating all kinds of prostate problems since they contain fatty acids which are used by the prostate to function properly. You should consume around 60 to 90 g of pumpkin seeds daily if you are suffering from any kind of prostate problems. Pumpkin seeds can either be consumed whole, or crushed and made into an infusion. Fish such as tuna, salmon and mackerel are also beneficial for treating prostate cancer, being high in omega 3 fatty acids. The phytoestrogen present in soy help to control the production of testosterone which is one of the factors responsible for prostate cancer. The phytoestrogen also help to reduce the growth of blood capillaries around prostate tumors. Tomatoes are known to be a rich source of lycopene, which fights all kinds of cancer so you should ensure that your diet includes a healthy serving of tomatoes.
