Bronchitis is a fairly common ailment and most people find that a variety of allergies can cause them to suffer from an inflammation of their throat. This can cause the throat to secrete a large quantity of mucous. It is this that you spit out when you have a coughing fit.
Bronchitis can be caused due to a regular habit of smoking. Sometimes the sudden change in the weather may also cause the person to suffer an attack of Bronchitis. Pollution, strong smells, dust are other reasons to explain Bronchitis.
Of course, the best thing to do, if you are prone to Bronchitis, is to stay away from the causes. You should ensure that you use a nose mask when dusting, to ensure that you don’t get an attack of Bronchitis. One of the best known remedies to treat Bronchitis is using turmeric powder. You should mix half a teaspoon of turmeric powder in a glass of hot milk. Drinking this mixture three or four times a day will help reduce your Bronchitis symptoms. You can also mix half a teaspoon each of dried ginger, peppers and cloves. These powders should then be mixed with honey and eaten two or three times a day. If you find yourself unable to eat them, you can boil a cup of water and add these powders to this. Allow this to boil till it is reduced to half its original quantity. Now you can add some honey and drink this infusion.
You can also consume one teaspoon of raw onion juice, the first thing in the morning. Onion juice has the property to prevent the formation of phlegm and to liquefy the phlegm, thus unclogging the nose and giving great comfort to the patient. You can make a powder of almonds and store this. Mix a spoon of this powder in orange or lemon juice and consume daily for relief from Bronchitis. You will find that taking a hot bath greatly relives the symptoms of Bronchitis. You will find that dipping a towel in hot water and applying this on the chest can also relieve Bronchitis. You should however, ensure that you finish off each of these hot towel fomentations with one of a towel dipped in cold water. You should avoid eating oily and rich food, which can further cause problems. Instead you should eat healthy food like soups and vegetables and fruits.
