Body hair amongst women is not appreciated by most cultures, especially in the oriental cultures. For women who have dense hair growth, this can become quite tedious since they have to regular get rid of the hair on their face, arms, underarms and legs in order to have smooth skin. There are several ways of hair removal at home, which can give you smooth limbs for a few days to a few weeks.
Waxing is the method that is most commonly opted. In this method wax is applied to a portion of your arm or leg, a piece of cloth pressed down on it and ripped off quickly, pulling the hair out from the roots. This leaves your skin smooth and hairless for 3 to 4 weeks depending on your hair growth.
However if waxing is not done properly, or if it is done three days before or during the first three days of your menstrual cycle it can lead to small boils or even bleeding. It advised not to get waxing done if you have been sun burnt or if you are suffering from any other skin condition
If you find waxing very painful or bothersome there are several other methods of hair removal. If you can bear a little pain, then you should consider investing in an epilating machine. Epilating also gives longer lasting results, but it can be painful since the machine pulls the hair out from the roots. If your hair has grown a bit you should trim it before running the epilator on your skin, since the ideal length for epilating is 2 to 5 mm. Shaving is the easiest method but it does not provide long lasting results. Since it does not remove hair from the roots you can find a stubble growth as soon as 24 hours later. If you opt for this method, you should buy a razor with multiple blades and a moisturizing strip that allows the blades to glide smoothly over your skin. Avoid using a men’s razor since it is meant for coarser hair and thus not suitable for your skin. Another painless method of hair removal is the depilatory cream. The depilatory creams available in the market chemically break down the structure of the hair, dissolving the hair from the roots, leaving your skin smooth for a few days to a week. Since depilatory creams are chemical based it is advisable to first do a patch test on a small section of the skin, before applying the cream to a larger area. This method is ideal for the bikini line or underarms where the skin is more sensitive and waxing is more painful.
