There are several remedies you can follow at home for yeast infections. While a lot of them will bring relief, it is also possible that you may be able to cure your infection at home. But you should know right at the start that if your infection is a powerful one that has been around for some time, it may not be possible to get rid of it merely using home remedies alone.
You may have to accompany them with at least a small course of basic antibiotics to kill the infectious parts of your problem. To begin with, you should sanitize the area where you have the infection. This will ensure that it does not spread too much or too widely.
To sanitize the infected area, you can cleanse it with a few drops of lime juice. This will do an excellent job. Alternatives to lime juice can also be organic apple cider vinegar or just plain hydrogen peroxide. Just make sure that whatever you use is either cold or of room temperature. Keep in mind that yeast tends to grow and flourish in warm and humid environments. So avoid exposing your skin where the infection is to warm and hot temperatures.
An excellent way to cure the infection would be to apply fresh, unsweetened and unflavored yogurt to it. This will be the best way to get rid of it, at least on the surface level. You can leave the yogurt on and let it work on your skin for a good hour or two. Once again, remember that it should be cool or cold. You can also apply freshly pressed garlic juice to the infected area. This will also ensure that the infection is killed right there. Another excellent remedy for a yeast infection is tea tree oil. You can dab tea tree oil on the infected area and this will take care of killing the infection right from the roots. However, you should be aware that this is an extremely strong product that may tend to damage your skin as well. It is wiser to do a patch test with it first. You can dilute the tea tree oil with equal parts of castor oil and then apply it to your inner elbow. Leave this for about an hour and then wash off. If your skin does not react negatively within 24 hours, you know that this is a safe remedy to use.
