Pinched Nerve In Back

What can I do for a pinched nerve in my back?
( 2 Feb 2009)

The best solution for a pinched nerve is rest, first and last. In order to heal fully, it is absolutely imperative that you rest as much as you possibly can. This is the safest and most effective solution for your problem.

In order to take care of uprooting the problem completely, you will have to first and foremost get to the root of the problem. In order for this to happen, you should go for a medical examination if possible. This will be the best way to diagnose accurately why you have suffered from a pinched nerve in the first place. Keep in mind that a pinched nerve can also be a symptom, rather than a problem by itself. Sometimes, an unknown injury, that has happened within the body which you have not even realized can also be the cause of a pinched nerve. You need to examine yourself and see if this is the case with you. if you cannot remember, then a medical examination will reveal it. Sometimes, the act of some everyday occurrence such as running or jumping can also manage to result in a pinched nerve. You have to be very careful if this is the case with you.

There are few other solutions that can be deemed effective for a pinched nerve, especially on the back. Since the back is such a large general area, it becomes specially challenging to suggest any kind of exercise or some posture related solution for your problem. Instead, it is better to use intermittent methods of relief for the problem. Ice packs are the best solution for temporary relief. You can apply ice packs which will numb the area and will provide very easy and effective solutions. Soaking in a hot tub will also provide relief from the problem of a pinched nerve. But this would totally depend upon whether you can actually soak in a tub. Sometime, a pinched nerve in the lower back area can prevent this. Another very highly effective method is to make a paste of powdered cinnamon and honey and apply this to the general painful area. This is a heat based solution and will help to cure the problem very well. But if you have sensitive skin, you would need to be particularly careful with this. The heat that is generated from the cinnamon powder can actually burn your delicate skin if it is left on for too long.
