There are several different ways in which you can get rid of unwanted hair on your own, in the comfort of your home. You will need to decide upon which technique to use depending on the location of hair, the thickness of the growth, the thickness of the hairs, speed of growth, and so on. In addition, you yourself will just find some methods more convenient or less convenient for you.
Some hair removal methods are also painful, and you will need to decide whether the advantages they offer are worth the pain.
For facial hair in women, shaving is usually not preferred, as it usually leads to the development of stubble as the hair grows back, which most women feel gives a manly impression. This is particularly true if the hair is thick - and on the other hand, if the hair is thin, then other methods will be much more effective.
The same applies to hair removal creams and powders - they remove only the portion of hair that is above the surface of the skin, and therefore as the hair continues to grow, a stubble appears. Such creams and powders may also be too strong to use on sensitive skin, such as that of the face.
For a scant, dispersed hairs, you should probably consider simply plucking hairs, one or two at a time, with a pair of tweezers. This is mildly painful, and takes a bit of time, which is why it is not suitable when a lot of hair needs to be removed. For areas such as the eyebrows however, many people prefer plucking. If you want, you can use a mechanical epilator, which is a machine that plucks hair similar to a pair of tweezers. This is much easier and quicker to use.
Another hair removal technique for facial hair is threading. A thin, twisted cotton thread is rolled over the area where the hair is growing; the hair gets caught in the thread and is pulled out rather quickly and neatly. However, this takes a bit of practice, and you may need to learn it from someone.
Some people also wax facial hair, typically to shape the eyebrows. Even if you do not want to regularly wax your facial, you can get it done professionally just once, and then use another technique as described above, as the hair that grows subsequently will be easier to remove.
