There are several ways to get rid of dark spots anywhere on the skin. The lips are particularly sensitive, and so it may not always be possible to employ as many remedial measures on them. But you can use the most mild ones.

The only thing will be that it will take a lot of time for these methods to show the kind of results you are hoping for. The deal is to keep at it and not give up at all. Only the will you be able to see visible results.

To begin with, you can start toning your lips with freshly squeezed cucumber juice. This can be done as many times a day as you want, since it is an extremely mild method with lesser side effects. Alternatively, you can also take a chopped piece of cucumber scrub this across your lips frequently. This method will also even out your skin tone considerably. You can also do this with tomato juice. But keep in mind that tomatoes are slightly acidic in nature. Try not to do this with tomato juice or tomato slices more than four times a day, as this may cause your lips to burn if done excessively.

If your spots are noticeably dark, you can also apply a paste made with sandalwood powder and rose water to them. This will also help with taking care of your problem. Another extremely effective method is to soak a single strand of saffron in a pinch of fresh milk cream overnight. This can then be scrubbed with a finger till the milk cream becomes totally saffron in color and applied the next morning. This will have to be left on your lips for about two hours and then it can be washed off. This combination has a tendency to lighten the toughest and darkest of spots quite easily and effortlessly. But keep in mind that you must do this on a daily basis for at least about a month before you start noticing results. An excellent method to temporarily take care of the darkness is to apply a diluted mixture of hydrogen peroxide, lime juice and water. You can use one part of each of these components to make this concoction. But make sure you do not go out in the sun after applying this to your lips, as this may make them darker instead. Evenings are a good time to try out this method.
