You do not squeeze, pick or pinch pimples because they get worse when you squeeze it. When you squeeze the pimple the oil and bacteria that caused it spread on to the surrounding area on the skin, and this leads to more pimples. Besides, the affected area gets even redder and more inflamed than before.

Pimples are caused due to several reasons. They usually occur during adolescence when the body is still trying to balance the hormones. They might also be caused due to the blackheads and whiteheads getting infected. When the pores of our skin get plugged up due to dirt and sweat buildup the body’s natural oil or sebum is unable to escape out. It gets trapped in the skin’s pore and when it comes in contact with the air it gets oxidized and turns dark forming a blackhead. When this blackhead gets infected with the bacteria on the skin it forms a pimple. Some other reasons that cause pimples are cosmetics with harsh chemicals, certain hair products, greasy cleansers, excessive smoking and drinking, intake of excessive oily, spicy and fatty foods and stress.

You need to stick to a simple daily routine to maintain healthy skin and prevent pimples.

Start your day with a glass of warm water with the juice of one lemon and some honey added to it. Follow up with two to three more glasses of plain warm water after some time. This will help to cleanse your system and flush out the toxins from your body. Drink lots of fluids throughout the day like water, juices and have clear soups during lunch and dinner if you like. Avoid refined and processed foods as they only increase the fats in your body and lead to more pimples. Instead include more of fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables. Also avoid fried oily and spicy food.

Make a paste of fresh mint leaves and apply this directly on the pimples. Leave on till it dries and then wash it off with plain water. Mint has antibacterial properties and helps to control and treat pimples.

Honey is also very good to gently treat and control pimples without drying your skin. Apply honey directly on your face after you wash your face. Leave on for 15 minutes and then wash it off with plain water and pat dry. Honey has antibacterial properties and it also deeply moisturizes your skin leaving it soft and pimple free.
