Numbness of various body parts is usually an indicator of something else. It is a symptom, not a problem by itself. At your age, it could be an indicator of a vast number of things.
And at the same time, it could merely mean that you have slept on the wrong side of your arm once too often without realizing it. Your best bet at this point in time is to go for a complete medical health check up and decide what may or may not be wrong with you. We could list some possibilities here, but it would be premature as well as negligent for you to merely consider these seriously and neglect your health further.
You are strongly advised to visit a doctor or a hospital for a complete health check up as soon as possible. Typically, numbness in the outer extremities can indicate a slow down of blood circulation to and through those extremities. This could happen due to problems that are associated with slow blood flow. One very common one is low blood pressure. Numbness in the hands and feet is also a common indicator of low blood pressure. Another problem that is characterized by numbness of the hands and feet is possible high cholesterol and subsequent heart trouble.
In some cases, diabetes could also be an indicator of this particular kind of numbness. But this usually happens only in extremely advanced stages of the disease. You would need to determine if you are indeed diabetic and if your diabetes is on an uncontrolled rampage. In that case, this would happen to you quite easily and frequently. There are a few measures you can take to check this situation before it gets out of hand. The first is to check your diet. You should ensure that your diet is not extremely high on fats, as this could be a potential problem at your age. A low fat and high fiber diet should be your general lifestyle as a rule. This will help you to get and maintain excellent health for a long time to come. It is also important that you introduce an element of exercise into your daily routine. This is significant because it will keep your body healthier and in better working condition for the rest of your life. Yoga would be an excellent option if you can find an appropriate instructor who will guide and train you well.
