In order to provide immediate relief from canker sores, you can rinse your mouth with ice cold water. This will numb your mouth and will give you momentary relief from the sores. Keep in mind that there are many easy methods you can use to get rid of canker sores.
But it is important to understand that if you have been suffering from sores for over a month, you need to get them checked out by a doctor. Sometimes, particularly nasty and infected canker sores can actually cause your whole mouth to become infected and will be a major deterrent in your eating and drinking as well. One of the best products to use in order to clean out your mouth of canker sores is hydrogen peroxide. Dilute hydrogen peroxide with equal parts of warm water and use this solution to rinse out your mouth. This will start the process of healing your sores to a large extent. In any case, it will certainly sanitize them and stop them from spreading, as canker sores are wont to do. If your sores are weeping pus or fluid, this is a particularly important step. You must also make sure you rinse every other hour or so, till the weeping stops at least. There are various health benefits of honey, it is considered to be very useful in taking care of canker sores. It is a soothing liquid and will provide great relief when you place it on your sore tongue. It is also considered to be an excellent healing agent in such cases. You can also add a pinch of turmeric powder to a tablespoon of honey and apply this to your tongue. Try to keep this on for as long and you possibly can without swallowing. This will help with the healing almost miraculously. There are some foods you must avoid when you are troubled with canker sores. Excessively hot fluids and food, spicy food and caffeine rich substances are best kept away from your tender tongue as these will all aggravate your situation. Salt in particular will cause some burning, especially if your sores are open. Stick to ice cream and soft and sweet foods for as long as you possibly can. You should also apply glycerin to your tongue as a healthy rinse after you eat. Try to keep it on for as long as you can and then spit it out. This will also help with the healing to some extent.
