There is no standard name for a hemorrhoid medication because there is no standard medication. Depending upon what kind of hemorrhoids you are afflicted with, and what doctor you visit, you will be administered different things. However, there are some standard methods you can use to get rid of hemorrhoids quite easily, and at home.

You would be making some simple dietary changes that would easily take care of your hemorrhoids. The changes you make will also have a two fold effect. They will improve your general health as well as help out with the hemorrhoids.

To begin with, you need to determine the cause of your hemorrhoids. The commonest causes are constipation, post delivery trauma, hard stools or eating excessively spicy food. Check which one applies to you. If it is eating spicy food, the simple solution is that you must stop eating that kind of food. If you are constipated, are suffering from hard stools or are facing post delivery hemorrhoids, then you will have to make changes in your diet to tackle these problems. For most part, all of these will have the same solution. You will have to regulate your bowel movements and ensure that you also have soft stools.

To begin with, add a high amount of fiber to your diet. This means adding leafy vegetables and fresh fruits to your food. You should avoid bakery products, which are usually high in carbohydrates and will always contribute to the hardness of your stools as well. Breads, rice, pastries and cakes all will make for hard stools. You should also avoid excessively heavy and fried food, as this will also add to the hardness of your stools. Milk is a mild laxative and may be taken warm before bedtime. To facilitate your motions, you can soak a fig in hot milk for about half an hour before eating it. This can be had with a glass of warm milk before bedtime to ensure comfortable bowel movements in the morning. You must also avoid using toilet paper for the duration of your suffering from the disease. This will only add to your discomfort. Instead, you can wash yourself with water. Use toilet paper to wipe yourself dry only. Sometimes, the lint present in toilet paper can cause more discomfort. At times, if you rub too vigorously, it will also add to your hemorrhoids. Follow these methods for about a week for best results.
