Tinea Versicolor is a fungal infection that commonly affects the areas of the head, shoulders, neck and face. It manifests in red spots that appear to the naked eye like painted red dots on the skin. They are usually not raised from the surface of the skin and are also not painful or scratchy or anything else either.
The thing to know about tinea Versicolor is that it is commonly a recurrent problem. It is a kind of fungus that can be taken care of by exposing it to acidic substances such as sulfur. A mixture of equal parts of sulfur powder and basic plain chemical alcohol can take care of getting rid of this fungal infection.
This is an extremely effective as well as quick method of taking care of the infection topically. However, this will not ensure in any way that the infection does not recur. In order to take care that it does not occur repeatedly you can take some precautionary measures that will also remove tinea Versicolor from the roots. One of the basic changes you would need to make in your lifestyle is to switch to using sulfur based soap on a permanent basis. This will make the greatest difference in tackling your condition.
Sulfur is one of the strongest substances that is most effective in killing off fungal as well as bacterial infections of small as well as large degrees of seriousness. Another such excellent solution lies in using tea tree oil. This is also a very strong anti fungal natural oil that is used to kill surface bacterial as well as fungal infections. You can find soap that is made with a base of tea tree oil quite easily in stores that sell natural goods. You may also find it in stores that sell specialized beauty goods. You should use this soap on a permanent basis. If you are affected with tinea Versicolor on your head as well, you can also use a tea tree oil based shampoo for best results. If you cannot find this, you can also buy a small amount of pure tea tree oil, and add a few drops of this to your regular shampoo. This will work just as effectively and well. Just make sure that you do not get this into your eyes, as it may cause damage to the sensitive mucous membranes of your eyes. Any such strong substance is best kept away from them.
