My husband vomits anywhere from 1 - 3 days and then he may be fine for 2 weeks to 2 months. Sometimes he has pains in his stomach and blood in his urine. What should I do for the vomiting? Nothing found by doctor.

Kidney stones are a very common problem that is characterized by the formation of very tiny stones within the urinary tract or kidney. These stones are generally formed out of the various chemicals that are present in a person’s urine such as oxalic acid, calcium, phosphorous and uric acid. The size of a stone can be anything from a few millimeters to a few inches.

Kidney stones are generally formed when the concentration of a certain substance in a persons urine is abnormally high, thus making it difficult to dissolve. These substances then start building up and eventually go on to crystallize and form stones. A majority of kidney stones are made of either phosphate or calcium oxalate. Some of the symptoms of this condition are painful urination, chills, sweating, vomiting, nausea and frequent urination. At times a person may also pass out blood in their urine. This condition can prove to be rather painful, particularly when the stone or stones are trying to travel down the person’s ureter into the bladder.

Here are a few home remedies to treat this condition. Basil is strongly recommended for this condition. Crush a few basil leaves in order to extract the juice. A teaspoon of this juice must then be mixed with an equal quantity of water. This mixture should be consumed everyday, on a regular basis, for 5-6 months. Apples are also highly effective in treating kidney stones. Consume 2-3 apples daily, to get rid of the stones. Another fruit that is beneficial for this condition are grapes. They serve as an excellent diuretic, as they possess a high content of potassium salt and water. Consuming a bowl of seedless grapes will prove to be highly favorable. Watermelons, due to their very high water content, are also recommended for treating kidney stones. This also serves as a diuretic and can be consumed in the form of a juice or as a whole.

The importance of water, when faced with the problem of kidney stones, cannot be undermined. Ensure that you drink an adequate amount of water; a minimum of eight to ten glasses a day, if not more, is what is generally suggested. Herbal tea made from nettle leaves will also help. Boil 2 cups of water and add 2-3 teaspoons of dried nettle leaf. Let the two simmer for about 5-10 minutes, after which keep it aside to cool. Strain the decoction once it cools and drink.

The symptoms that you have described suggest that your husband might be suffering from kidney stones but only a thorough medical check up can give you the exact details. A proper medical diagnosis is required in this case. Please take your husband to a different doctor preferably a urologist. He will conduct the relevant tests and tell you the reasons for these problems. Irregular eating habits, unhealthy lifestyle, excessive stress and or deficiency of certain vitamins and minerals could cause the above symptoms. You could take of some general things at home and make a few changes to his daily routine and see if it helps.

Ensure that he eats on time and has a healthy well balanced diet consisting of whole grains, fresh vegetables and fruits. Avoid excessive oil and spice in his food. Also ask avoid excessive intake of coffee, tea, and alcohol. These dehydrate the body so the urine cannot dissolve the minerals in the kidney. The undissolved minerals form stones and when passing with the urine from the kidney to the bladder cause extreme pain that starts from the sides and moves on to the groin. Kidney stones vary in their size and consistency and the slightly big ones cause bleeding while passing through the urine.

You can also give him fresh fruit juices and refreshing green teas. These have a good amount of antioxidants that help to heal the body. Ask him to drink lots of water throughout the day, as this is essential to dissolve the kidney stones and flush out the toxins from the body. This is the simplest way to get rid of the problem. To relieve his vomiting you can give him a few slices of fresh ginger root to chew or ginger ale or simple homemade lemonade. Check if he is allergic to certain foods or smells around the house that cause the vomiting and get rid of those things.

To completely remove kidney stones and to cure his urinary tract infection you could give him a herbal tea. Take the silky thin thread like tassels from the corn cob and wash them clean. Boil it in water. Strain and give him to drink. Add a little honey to taste if you like. Check his salt intake. Excessive salt in his food might be causing the vomiting and other problems. Give him whole wheat bread instead of the white bread. Whole wheat bread contains magnesium, which avoids and controls the formation of stones.
