Excessive and unwanted body hair can definitely leave one feeling like the great grizzly. Thick lustrous hair is good, as long as it is limited to our scalp and not the other areas of the body. Here are a few simple home remedies to get rid of unwanted body hair.
Mix together 4 tablespoons of honey with one tablespoon of freshly squeezed lime juice. Apply this paste on the concerned area, in the direction of the hairs growth and leave it on for 15-20 minutes, after which rinse it off with lukewarm water. This remedy should be performed twice a week, till you achieve the desired results. Mix together half a teaspoon of corn flour, one egg white and a teaspoon of sugar. Blend the three ingredients together, till you get a thick sticky paste. Apply this gooey liquid on the concerned area, again in the direction of hair growth, and let it air dry naturally. Once dry, gently peel the application off. This treatment has to be executed two to three times a week for positive results. Waxing is also an effective way of getting rid of unwanted body hair. To prepare your very own home-made wax you will need a quarter cup each of freshly squeezed lemon juice, water and two cups of sugar. Heat all the three ingredients together, in a pan, on a low to medium fire. Keep stirring constantly till the sugar melts and you get a viscous brown liquid. Consistency plays a very important role here, the liquid should neither be too thick nor too thin. Take the pan off the fire and leave it aside to cool. In the meanwhile cut out strips of cotton cloth, which are about two inches in breadth and six inches in length.
Once the wax has cooled to become favorably warm, apply a thin layer of the liquid on the area that is to be waxed. The application has to be in the direction of the hair growth again. Now place a strip of cloth on the application and press it down hard, so that is adheres to the wax. Next, pull the strip off, in the direction that is opposite to the hairs growth. Repeat this on other areas that are to be waxed as well. You may need to brace yourself a bit, the first time that you try out his remedy, as it may prove to be a tad painful.

Waxing is a highly recommended method to get rid of unwanted body hair. Other options include shaving, hair removal creams and epilating but there is always the possibility in-grown hair with these methods. There is also the fear of scrapes and cuts or allergies when using these methods. In addition to this, the re-growth of hair is much faster after shaving and it leads to darker, thicker stubble which is very unsightly. Though the option of hair removal using laser treatment is effective, it is extremely expensive and doesn't always lead to good results. Thus, waxing is the best option for hair removal. It not only removes the hair from the roots, but also gets rid of any dead skin, thus leaving your skin hairless and smooth for several weeks.
In order to wax your arms or legs at home, you need to be equipped with some wax, a disposable spatula and some strips of muslin or cotton to strip off the wax and unwanted hair. Before you start waxing, wash properly to remove any oils or cream and also ensure that your skin is dry. You should seat yourself in such a manner that the wax is within easy reach and also keep the cloth strips nearby. Make sure your floor is covered with old towels or paper to avoid the hassle of cleaning the floor if there is any spilling of wax. You will have to heat the wax before applying it on your skin, but make sure the wax is not too hot or you will burn yourself. Once the wax is heated, begin by applying a thin strip of wax on the required area keeping in mind to apply it in the same direction as that in which your hair grows. Quickly place the strip of cloth over the wax and after pressing it down with a firm hand, pull it off in the opposite direction in one smooth move. This might hurt a little but you will soon get used to it. It is best if you do it quickly to keep the pain minimum and get the best results. Once you have waxed the required area, rinse your arms or legs with cold water to get rid of the sticky sensation and wipe down gently. If you have any skin allergies or scabs or wounds, you should not wax the affected areas. In addition to this, remember to be gentle because when the hot wax is stripped off, it may also strip off the upper layer of epidermis and may lead to bruises or scabs. Avoid entering a sauna, hot tub or even a public swimming pool immediately after waxing to ensure you don't have any unpleasant reactions or infections.
