There are several easy and inexpensive ways you can employ at home to soothe a sore throat. Ginger is one of the best products that can be used for this purpose. If you can, simply chew on a piece of dried or fresh ginger.

If you find that this is too spicy for you, make a paste of equal parts fresh ginger juice, honey, powdered peppercorns and anise seeds. You can swallow this directly and follow it up with a few sips of warm water. This will help ease your sore throat almost dramatically.

Gargling with hot salt water to which a half teaspoon of turmeric powder has been added is also a very highly effective way of taking care of a sore throat. This will also help to soothe the throat. You can also have hot tea throughout the day for relief. Brew tea instead of steeping it. Add powdered peppercorns, cloves and ginger roots to this. If you have it, you can also add lemongrass. This tea will help to heal your throat and will also help to ease your congestion if you are troubled with any. Garlic is also very useful in soothing a sore throat. You can mix freshly squeezed garlic juice with a few drops of honey and have this. Let is slide down your throat, so that it coats your throat evenly and well and continues to work on your throat for a while.

A highly effective herb to use for curing a sore throat is holy basil. If you cannot find this herb fresh, you can buy it in powdered form at stores that sell natural and organic goods. You can also buy it from certain specific south east Asian grocery stores. This herb can be used in a crushed form; you can add it to your tea. You can also make an infusion of the herb by boiling it in water and adding honey to it when cooled. Drinking this will help to heal your throat. If your throat is sore, it is also avoidable for you to eat hard foods. Instead, focus on having soup meals. These will help by providing warm comfort to your throat as well. If you are a meat eater, you must have more of chicken soup. This is supposed to be the best thing that will heal you very quickly as well. Follow these methods frequently during the day for good and quick results.
