If you are suffering from high blood pressure problems, there are some lifestyle and dietary changes you must make on a permanent basis to battle this disease. Keep in mind that these changes would be stringent and you would also have to follow them quite religiously and regularly to ensure that your condition remains under control. If left unchecked, blood pressure that remains regularly high can actually cause a lot of other related complications as well.
The first thing you should do as a rule is to stop taking table salt completely. Understand that salt is the biggest culprit that actually contributes to raising your blood pressure on a regular basis. It is advisable to take less salt in any case. But table salt should be absolutely removed from your diet. Try to switch to vegetarianism. This will always improve your health significantly. Eating meat tends to add to problems such as high blood pressure. This is because meat has its own natural salts and thus your salt intake would significantly drop if you eliminated meat from your diet.
Try to eat as much salad and fresh vegetables as you can. With salad, it is advisable to avoid taking dressings, as these usually contain added salt as well. Fresh leafy vegetables like spinach, collard greens and mustard greens are very good for reducing blood pressure. You can make tasty soups with all these quite easily. All you need to do is boil and blender them. To this, you can add a little bit of butter for flavor. If you can, add a significant amount of cabbage to your diet. This will help to control your blood pressure. Try to eat food that is not particularly spicy all the time. Spices will also aggravate your condition. The only thing you should increase your intake of significantly is raw garlic. Although this is hardly the most palatable of things to eat, it will help to improve your health significantly. You can eat a clove of garlic every night for best results. Simply crush and swallow with a glass of water. It is also imperative that you exercise in order to keep your circulation going normally and well. Exercise is also very effective in controlling your blood pressure. If you can, make it appoint to go for walks twice a day, as this will be of maximum help. Any or all of these methods should help you out significantly.
