When we shave too close to the skin in our desire to get the perfect shave, this often causes the top of a hair follicle to he chopped off. As a result the hair is forced to grow sideways, at an angle. The hair therefore comes up through the side of the follicle and from there straight into your skin.
Your skin objects by throwing up an angry red inflammation. And you find that your skin is dotted with a rash of tiny red bumps that mar the smoothness of your skin. Ingrown hair is fairly common since all of us do shave our skin regularly.
What you can do to help get rid of the inflammation is use an anti bacterial soap on your skin. This will ensure that the inflammation is cleared up quickly. You can also try to avoid shaving, especially if you regularly suffer from ingrown hair. Instead you should try waxing your hair off.
What you can do to get rid of the inflammation from the ingrown hair now, is to use Aloe Vera on the red bumps. The market is full of various products that contain Aloe Vera. You can choose one among them to apply on your skin but if you want instant action you can think of getting an Aloe Vera plant so that you can use the natural and pure gel that is found inside the Aloe Vera leaf. You can cut the leaf open and simply scoop out the gel and apply on your skin. This can be left on the skin overnight and helps heal cuts and burns too.
You can also mix four to five table spoons of sugar with some drops of lemon juice, one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, half a teaspoon of cornstarch, two teaspoons of honey and heat the entire thing till it forms a sticky mass. Dust the painful area with cornstarch. Then spread the cooled mixture on the area and lave on for twenty minutes. When you wash this off with warm water you will notice that the red mumps have gone down. Your skin will also feel very soft.
If your skin feels very itchy and irritated due to the ingrown hair, you can peel and puree half a cucumber. To this add half a cup of milk. This should be left in the fridge till it is cold. Now dip a soft cloth in this and place it on the irritated skin. This will instantly take away all the irritation and soothe your skin.
