A toothache can really turn your life into a painful experience. There could be several reasons for the toothache and you should visit a dentist at the very earliest, to confirm the reasons for the pain. In the meanwhile you can try some simple home remedies to help reduce the pain.
You can use some warm water to gargle. This can help heal any infection and give you some relief. Add some salt to the warm water and then gargle. You can also add some turmeric powder and then gargle with this. Another very easy remedy requires a tea bag. Allow this to steep in warm water and then discard the water and lay the tea bag on the tooth that is causing you pain. Leave it there for some time. This draws out the pain and can give you some relief from the pain. Clove oil is very effective in controlling pain. If you can find some pure clove oil you can use a small amount of cotton and dip it in the oil. Lay this on the tooth that hurts. You will find the pain reducing. If you cannot find clove oil, you can also use a clove to reduce the pain. Lay it on the affected tooth and suck at it for some time. The juice generated in your mouth will reduce the pain caused by the tooth.
You can also use garlic to reduce the pain in your tooth. You can use one clove of garlic, along with some rock salt and place this on the affected tooth. Leave it there for some time and you will find that the pain in your tooth has gone down. You should also make it a regular practice to chew some cloves of garlic so that your teeth remain healthy and don't cause you any further problems in the future.
Onion juice also contains properties that can help reduce the pain caused due to a painful tooth. You can chop a small piece of onion and place it on the tooth that is causing discomfort. You should also eat onions regularly, since they are very effective in ensuring that you never suffer from any problems with your teeth. Asafetida is also effective in controlling tooth ache. Grind it in a mortar and pestle along with some lemon juice. If you don't have a mortar and pestle, simple use a heavier object as a pestle. Heat this till it is slightly warm. Now take a small amount of this on a clean cotton swab and lay it on the affected tooth.
