Suggest some home remedies for improving skin color and for fairness?

A person's skin can become dark due to various reasons. One of the most important reasons in deciding the skin tone of a person is heredity. It is accepted that the offspring of dark parents also has dark skin.


But very often the busy lifestyle we lead combined with stress and pollution can cause the skin to look several shades darker that it actually is. This darkens can be reduced with various face packs. These face packs and other applications work best when combined with a good diet and some basic precautions.


The most basic precaution involves taking care to shield you face and keep your skin covered. You can wear high necked blouses and ensure that you always dress in long sleeved clothes. A large hat can shield your face from the effects of the sun.

You can use three tablespoons of oatmeal along with one tablespoon of yogurt and two tablespoons of tomato juice and make a face pack. Apply this on your face and neck, using upward strokes. This can be left on for some time before it is washed off with lukewarm water.

A face pack made of gram flour and turmeric is also very effective in clearing the skin color. Use three tablespoons of gram flour and a pinch of turmeric. Mix these with milk to form a spreadable paste. This can be slathered on the face and neck and left to dry. This works very well on places like your knee and elbow, where the skin is rough and the skin is dark. This helps lighten the skin tone. Lemon juice, with its well known bleaching properties is also very effective in lightening the skin tone. You can use fresh lemon juice and apply this on your face, neck, arms and elbows. Left on overnight this can work wonders. Almonds work wonders when used on the skin. The almond mask you make requires blanched almonds. These need to be ground into a fine paste. You can use some milk when you are grinding them. Apply this on your face and neck. Regular application of this helps reduce dark circles and lighten the color of your skin.

Although there aren't any specific food items that can guarantee that your skin will become fairer, eating a healthy and balanced diet will definitely help you get healthy, glowing skin. You should eat meals that include a larger proportion of fruits and vegetables. Adequate consumption of fluids can also work wonders and keep your kin looking healthy.
