You suffer from urinary tract infection when a bacteria gains entry into your body through the opening of your urethra. This causes an infection of the urinary tract. This infection can cause a lot of pain to the person who is suffering from it.

If the patient does not take care to control it in its initial stages the infection could then move on to the kidneys. This could also lead to cystitis. It has been noticed that women are more likely to be affected by urinary tract infection.

Some of the most common symptoms of urinary tract infection are a frequent urge to urinate. People suffering from this infection also experience a burning sensation when they urinate. Sometimes this infection can also cause fever and nausea. If you are suffering from excessive burning and if your temperature that refuses to come down, it is advisable to seek the advice of a medical practitioner. Your doctor will be the best person to decide if you require medication to control the infection.

One of the easiest ways to get rid of the infection in your body is to literally flush it out by drinking a lot of fluids. Water is the safest option, though fruit juices are fine too. Cranberry juice is generally considered very helpful in getting rid of the infection. However, you should take care to ensure that neither sugar nor artificial sweeteners are added to anything that you drink. Buttermilk is very beneficial and you can dilute it with some water and add a pinch of salt for taste.

You should also cut down on beverages like tea and coffee. Drinking carbonated drinks is not advisable. Other foods that can irritate the system, like dairy products, fried food times, chocolate and processed food should all be avoided. Instead, your diet should include fresh fruits and vegetables. Avoid eating heavy, oily and spicy food. Choose light food instead. This means that your diet should be completely vegetarian since eating non-vegetarian food is likely to aggravate your condition. You should also avoid eating food that is sour since this aggravates the infection.

You will find that sitting in a tub filled with lukewarm water is very soothing. It will help you feel better and some of the pain will be reduced. Avoid using strong smelling soaps and deodorants. Dress in loose clothes made of natural fibers since it is very important that you don't feel constricted.
