Natural Remedies for Headache

Headaches are the most common condition to afflict people the world over. Headaches may occur in one or more parts of the head or in the back of the neck and involve what may vary from mild to severe pain. There are a variety of headache patterns and even more numerous causes.


Headaches are at most painful and annoying, but at times the severity of a headache can be debilitating. Most headaches however are not indicative of serious disorder and headaches that are not chronic can be easily relieved with over the counter medications or through basic lifestyle changes.
Headaches caused by tension or stress are the most common of all headaches and can affect individuals of any sex an age, but generally affect adults and adolescents.


Headaches of this nature are in most cases not chronic, but instead isolated incidents. Identifying the cause of headaches can help minimize their occurrence. Stress, fatigue, poor posture, eye strain and tobacco and alcohol use are the most common causes or triggers for these headaches. This said the biggest cause of headaches is our fast paced and stressful lifestyle, so making changes to your lifestyle is of the utmost importance. At times stress is unavoidable and circumstances may not leave much room for relaxation, but as far as possible:
Avoid consuming excessive amounts of alcohol and tobacco.
Always try to maintain a good posture while seated and working. Many of us spend a large amount of our working hours seated in a chair, so its design should be perfect for you, providing comfort while promoting good posture.
Practice some relaxation techniques on a daily basis and make it a point to relax and de-stress whenever you feel the pressure get to you. Yoga and other forms off meditation would make for the best form of therapy against headaches and will also improve the overall quality of your life.
Try not to spend too much time indoors and make it a point to go for a walk every day. Exercise is also important and you do not need to engage in strenuous workouts in a gym. Basic stretching exercises at home will suffice.
If you still find yourself plagued by the occasional headache you can try some popular herbal remedies like feverfew and peppermint. They are believed to be quite effective in providing relief from headaches. Applying a paste made from cloves on the forehead is another popular natural remedy that can help cope with a headache.
