Generally, toothaches are quite easy to diagnose. They fall in two categories. Either you will experience a throbbing ache in the root of the particular tooth that is in trouble.

Or else, you will be plagued with a general dull ache in the general region of the problem. In either and all cases, there are some very simple and easy home remedies that can be followed to take care of toothache at home without the help of excessive medicines. However, it is important that you first get your teeth examined by a dentist.

This will determine whether you have any other serious problem that is causing the toothache. This is particularly important if you are experiencing pain in the molar regions. This is because it is possible that your wisdom teeth are showing up. When the appearance of wisdom teeth is accompanied with pain, it generally means that they are coming out crooked. This is the reason for pain and discomfort. Generally, in such cases, you would have to get the tooth extracted. It could also require some other medical procedure, but only a dentist will be able to tell you if that is the case, or what measure is required. So getting a medical examination is extremely important.
To take care of general toothache at home, especially if you are not facing anything more complicated, there are several things you can do. The most effective one is to apply clove oil to the parts where the ache is strongest. The best way to apply clove oil without swallowing it directly is to saturate a cotton ball with it and then place it between your inner lip or cheek and the part of your mouth which hurts. This way, the oil will keep seeping into the painful part of your mouth and working its effect there. You would need to moderate the use of clove oil, however. Sometimes, you may develop an ulcer due to prolonged exposure of clove oil to the skin. If you cannot get clove oil, you can also keep a single clove in your mouth. Another remedy that is known to work effectively to cure a toothache is the use of pure almond extract. It can be used the same way as clove oil. In case you have a mild infection that is causing this pain, you can make a solution with a few drops of tea tree oil in a cup of warm water and swish it around in your mouth.
