Whether or not your weight gain is related to your operation can only be determined by your doctor. In particular, you must consult the doctor who did your operation. This is your best bet to determine the connection, if there is one.

The reason why this determination is important is that if indeed your weight gain is related to your operation, or post operative measures, then those would need to be modified and worked upon to control your weight. Only your doctor, the person who has prescribed any post operative medications, can tell you this for certain.

Once you are done with this route, you should also keep in mind that gaining weight post operatively is also a side effect of lack of general mobility.

Depending upon how much weight you have gained and how fast, you can determine this for yourself. In order to lose extra weight you may have gained, there are some simple measures to follow. But before we can detail these, it is important for you to consult with your doctor, you need a doctor's okay to start with the mildest of exercise or change in diet, or adoption of any home remedies to correct your situation.

The first thing you can do is start sipping warm water all day. This will be of dramatic help in losing extra weight. You should increase your intake of fresh, unprocessed and raw vegetables, as opposed to those cooked in oil and spices. Try to steam and grill as much as you can. This will help to cut weight considerably as well. It is also preferable to avoid meat in all forms for the time being. This will help you to not put on weight, which is as important as losing the extra weight is. You can also indulge in mild exercise like walking everyday. This will help to lose weight and will also help you to regain your lost or weakened (due to the operation) stamina considerably. Yoga is the best form of exercise to help you to lose weight. It is gentle as well as effective and can be safely followed in almost all kinds of circumstances. However, it is important you ask the doctor before you embark upon any form of exercise. You should also make small changes to your lifestyle. For instance, try to have your tea or coffee without sugar, and add skim instead of whole milk. This will make a considerably difference.
