Obesity is more a mental condition, rather an illness or a medical condition. Most people who are obese are that way because they don't want to see themselves as people who are healthy. If you have recognized that you are obese and that you need help, that is a very good sign.


You should be prepared to follow the various restrictions over a period of time, because even the best of the ways to lose weight does not guarantee his weight loss in a few days time. You will require a period of time and during that time you will have to ensure that you adhere very strictly to all the rules and the stipulations of the diet.

The first thing that you will have to do is to start a rigorous physical regime.


If you have not exercised in a long time, it is a good idea to start slowly. You can also seek help and advice from a health care professional. Increase the amount of exercise steadily, till you are beginning to feel better about yourself. The physical activity can be something that you enjoy and are comfortable doing. For some people this is jogging while others prefer walking. If you are most comfortable working out in a gym, then you should do that.

In addition to this you will also have to ensure that your diet is restructured. Your physical exercise will be of no use if you stuff yourself with a lot of unsuitable and unhealthy food. Your diet will have to consist mainly of raw and fresh vegetables, or else vegetables cooked with a minimum of oil and spices. Green leafy vegetables like spinach are particularly good for people trying to lose weight. You can eat vegetables like radish and cabbage, but avoid other vegetables like potatoes, sweet potatoes. You should stick to a predominantly vegetarian diet. You can eat eggs as long as you avoid eating the yolk. Eating red meat is not a very good idea. However, you can eat fish instead. Try and avoid frying it; and instead eat it baked.

Sugar is something that you will have to cut down on. Instead, you can use honey wherever necessary. Similarly, you will have to cut down on butter, lard, margarine and other such items. Avoid eating unhealthy snacks and substitute these with some healthy snacks. When drinking fruit juices, avoid the temptation to add sugar and settle for a sugarless juice.
