You have taken the right step by first recognizing and accepting your need to lose weight. Once you have made this decision, you should be willing to follow all the various steps and changes that this will entail. The first thing you will have to do is to make a complete change in your lifestyle and eating habits.


Although there are several diets that are very popular, you can come up with a diet plan that will best suit your needs, keeping in mind all the limitations of your lifestyle.

If your diet includes foodstuffs that use white flour, you should stop using these. Most of these are usually are available in healthier options which you can use. For instance white bread can be substituted with whole grain or multi grain bread. Similarly, you should stop eating processed food and opt for simple home cooked food. You can eat lots of salads, ensuring that you limit the use of the dressings used. Food that is oily and spicy should be avoided. Instead opt for food that has been baked, since this is a healthier option. Avoid red meats and instead eat plenty of fish. You can eat eggs but avoid eating the yolks. Sugar can be substituted with the healthier option of honey. Instead of drinking endless cups of tea or coffee, you can drink some herbal tea. Or you can squeeze the juice of half a lemon in a cup of hot water and add a tablespoon of honey to this. This is not only a healthy drink; it can also help you lose weight. Eat a minimum of dairy products like cheese and ice creams.

Although fruits can be consumed even when you are trying to lose weight, you should take care about the fruits you eat. You should not eat fruits like musk melons, mangoes and bananas since all these contain a large amount of sugar and are likely to increase your weight. You can, however, eat other fruits. Fruit juices are fine, as long as you don't add sugar to them. You can eat low fat yogurt but buttermilk, with some salt added to it, is a far healthier option. Remember, you don't need to starve in order to lose weight. All it really requires is that you take some care with what you eat, when you eat it and how you eat it.

In addition to these changes in your diet you should also ensure that you maintain an active lifestyle. This will keep you fit and help you loose faster.
