Excessive weight is very often not a very pleasing sight and is very detrimental to health as it causes unnecessary strain on the body. In a few cases, the condition may be due to an internal disorder of the endocrine glands or due to the onset of menopause in women. Usually, however, the cause boils down to simple arithmetic.
Fats are essential nutrients that the body requires as a storehouse of energy and for the completion of other vital processes. But if too much of fat producing food is consumed and the body gets very little exercise to burn it up, fat accumulates.
Unfortunately, some people burn up their food at a slower rate than others and do have to eat a much more restricted diet to achieve a normal weight.
In spite of treatments which are advertised, there is no safe, easy and quick road to weight reduction. It is generally observed that in males the excess fat accumulates in the abdominal area while in females the excess fat accumulates near the buttocks and hips. While there may be a concentration of fat as in your case around your belly, there is no specific exercise to reduce only this fat. A full workout is necessary, to reduce the overall levels of fat in your body.
We must understand that the excess fat needs to be burned, for which the body needs physical exercise. Also, when one undergo weight training, and muscles subsequently develop, these fats are used for production of energy. The result is that the process of burning up of fat (also known as basal metabolic rate or BMR) is now much faster than before, resulting in fat-loss. The point is that there is no quick-fix solution to eliminating fat from a particular body part and the only natural solution is to give the body and its muscles adequate exercise.
Diet is as important as exercise when it comes to getting rid of excess fat. Sedentary lifestyles coupled with lavish food are major causes of excess fat in the first place. Sugary and starchy food must be avoided as should be oils and fats. Plenty of green vegetables and salads should be part of your diet. One must resist the temptation to nibble during meals and must strictly adhere to meal timings. Also, one must realize that extreme forms of dieting are nothing but starving the body, which depletes the body of nutrients and ends up making the fat-burning process even slower. Contrary to popular belief, eating can actually help in reduction of fat. Consumption of high protein (but low fat) food like lean meat, poultry, and eggs actually require more energy than other foodstuffs for their digestion and hence, they greatly aid fat loss.
Whatever the remedy you use, there must be consistency on your part. If the problem still persists, one may see a doctor or a dietician.
