A child suffering from nosebleeds should be taken to a doctor at once. This is not a problem that can be taken lightly or ignored. It is also not one of those problems for which you should try to administer a cure on your own.

There could be any number of reasons for a child to have nosebleeds. Only a doctor would be able to examine and diagnose the problem accurately. For general knowledge, it is good to know the reasons that can be the cause of nosebleeds.

If you live in dry and cold climate, then it could simply be a result of the weather conditions which is giving the child nosebleeds. Excessive cold can actually cause dryness on the surface of the skin. Beyond a point, it becomes so dry that the skin splits and begins to bleed. This is superficial bleeding of the torn, cracked or broken skin, which we mistakenly think of as nosebleeds. Not only is this relatively harmless, it is also easily taken care of by applying a layer of oil or cold cream inside the nostrils to keep the skin lubricated so that this does not happen again.

You would also need to check out the possibility that the child has been digging its nose too much. Sometimes this can also cause bleeding, particularly if the child has inadequately trimmed fingernails. This will also be typically accompanied with scabbing. You would have to be vigilant and keep an eye out for this. It is necessary fro you to ascertain whether this is a reason before you waste time and effort going to a doctor. Moreover, it is essential that you drill early on in the child habits of good hygiene and teach her or him not do such things. If there are reasons other than these, they need medical attention.
