A natural diuretic is a natural herb or food that can aid the flow of urine and the removing of fluids from the body; however it can also lead to the loss of vitamins and minerals from the body as well. Therefore, when using a natural diuretic make sure to supplement your loss of vital nutrients. The use of diuretics is varied.


It is most commonly used fore people with a disease known as edema - which is basically the gathering up of excess fluid in a certain part of the body. It is also used to treat people suffering blood pressure (high) and other pulmonary related diseases. Diuretics are sometimes used as a method to loose fat as well in a very short period of time. However the method is not a healthy way to lose weight and the weight loss is only temporary. The use of too much of a diuretic can also cause severe dehydration and a deficiency in potassium which can create a lot of complications.

Natural diuretics are also used to treat disorders and diseases like a kidney stone, sciatica, disorders of the liver, post menstrual stress, selling of the lymph gland however, and caution should be exercised when using a diuretic. Therefore it is advisable to consult your doctor as to what kind and how much of a diuretic should be used to cure a disorder. There are a number of natural diuretics and these are; green tea- a famous diuretic that is used a lot in china. Cranberry juice is also helpful in removing excess fluids. Another diuretic is apple cider vinegar. The apple cider vinegar has natural properties and also helps in the maintenance of potassium levels. Another diuretic is dandelion. All of these can be found at your local drug store or grocery store and are easy to use and consume.
