A migraine problem can be among the worst health problems that you can have. Although it is not life threatening and does not cause you to deteriorate in any way, the migraine attacks can be seriously debilitating. The headache combined with the nausea and sensitivity to light and noise make it almost impossible to do anything at all till the attack has passed.
Unfortunately, the problem cannot be permanently solved; you can however take a few measures to obtain some relief when you do have a migraine headache.
Rest and a massage are the two best cures for a migraine headache if you're looking for natural cures. Simply go to a dark quiet room by yourself, and lie down for at least half an hour.
If you can get someone to give you a head massage, great, else you can gently massage your temples and the back of your head and neck for around five minutes. You can also try a cold compress, but this does not work for everyone. Simply take a soft, clean cloth, dip it in water that is slightly cold, and then place it on your forehead. The cloth should not be dripping wet, but it should not be wrung dry either. Some people find that a warm compress works better, so if this does not work you can try a hot water bottle instead.
An important part of handling migraine is preventing the attacks from occurring. To do this, you need to identify the things that trigger an attack. One of the common causes of migraine headaches is inadequate or irregular sleep. Some sufferers also find that certain foods trigger attacks, while others may actually help avoid attacks or at least ease the pain and discomfort. Regular exercise and a healthy diet also reduce the frequency and severity of the migraine attacks.
