Sinusitis is a condition in which the sinus is infected and the sinus and nasal passages get inflamed. An infection like this causes headaches that can be severe or the feeling of pressure in your nose, eyes, the area around your cheeks or on either side of your head. People suffering from sinusitis or sinus infection also display other common symptoms like a fever, a cough, nasal congestion and bad breath.
Nasal congestion is also generally accompanied by with thick nasal secretions. There are two kinds of sinusitis - acute or chronic.
In cases of severe infection there could be pain in head or the ear or neck.
There could also be other symptoms like headaches early soon after waking, pain or an ache in the upper jaw, teeth, and cheeks, pain between the eyes, swelling of the eyelids, loss of smell or tenderness near the nose. At times there could also be symptoms like fever, tiredness, fatigue, severe cough, and a runny nose. Symptoms similar to the ones that you have mentioned are not uncommon and it is very possible that they are connected to a sinus infection. However, it is not necessary that this is the case and the symptoms could be indicative of isolated and separate disorders. It could also be that you suffer from a ear infection. Sinus problems are at times triggered by such infections. I would advise you to visit and consult with your doctor to ascertain the cause of your symptoms as in any case of sinus infection the most effective way to address the condition is by focusing treatment on the underlying cause.
Sinusitis can be effectively dealt with through medication. In addition to your prescribed medication, using aroma therapy and steam inhalation to cope with the problem would be a good idea. They are quite effective and give instant relief.
