I have chronic backache. A few months back it was a morning phenomenon but now I remain uneasy the whole day because of the pain?

A back pain that lingers for more that three months is considered to be a chronic back pain. This kind of a back pain is the worst as it does not let up, is almost always progressive and is toughest to treat. In most cases, it is almost impossible to determine the cause of a chronic back pain.

Unlike acute back pain, chronic back pain will not subside with time and ignoring this problem will only cause your condition to deteriorate and your back pain to increase. It generally causes a loss of flexibility and can interfere with even the simplest daily functional activities. I would suggest that you go in for a CAT scan, an MRI and a Myelogram to help to determine the cause and progression of this problem.

Exercise is considered to be the best cure for chronic back pain. There are various light stretching exercises that will not only relieve back pain but also protect you from future attacks. In addition to this, there are exercises to strengthen the muscles that support the spine that are especially effective for people suffering from chronic back pain. Make sure that you do not start any exercises on your own as you might strain your muscles and aggravate your condition. Enlist the guidance of your doctor, physiotherapist or a licensed health professional.

Poor posture can aggravate a back pain so make sure that your back is always supported when you are seated. Do not remain seated for long periods, instead take a break and walk around a little as this will ease cramped muscles. Nutritional deficiencies too often contribute significantly to back problems so make sure that you follow a healthy diet. You can apply a poultice made out of raw potato juice for temporary relief from a back pain.
