I am not aware of what cardiopril is, but if your doctor has prescribed any medications for the conditions you are suffering from, it is extremely dangerous for you to stop taking them without consulting your doctor. Usually, a doctor will not prescribe medication for hypertension unless the condition is very severe. In most cases, the first line of treatment involves changes in the patient's lifestyle and diet.
Since your doctor seems to have prescribed some medication, and also because your hypertension seems to have been the cause of the left ventricular hypertrophy, your condition is probably quite severe. Till the condition is under control, you will need to continue taking the prescribed medication. This is something that you must reconcile yourself to.
In the meanwhile, you need to visit your doctor for regular check ups, and he or she will let you know when you can stop the medication or bring down the dosage.
There are several lifestyle and diet changes that you can make to bring your condition under control and reduce the need for medication, but these must be made with the help of your doctor. These include reducing your consumption of salt, alcohol, and tobacco, and taking up some form of regular aerobic exercise. If you are overweight, you should also try to lose weight, although this should be done gradually. Whether or not you need to lose weight, your diet should be low on fat and high in fruits and vegetables. Stress is also a major factor, and should be avoided - this includes unnecessary worrying about your health, which is something you seem to be doing. If you visit your doctor regularly, take the necessary medications, and make the necessary modifications to your diet and lifestyle, there is nothing at all for you to worry about.
