Diarrhoea is common condition that affects the bowels and digestive system. A person suffering from diarrhoea will experience stomach pains that can be very severe as well as loose stools. Although diarrhea is generally a relatively mild condition it can have serious repercussions as it causes severe malnutrition and dehydration, severely weakening the affected person's immune system leaving him susceptible to other conditions and infections.

This is particularly true when the person suffers from prolonged or repeated bouts of diarrhoea. A number of factors could be responsible for diarrhoea including some drugs and medications, illnesses, and most commonly through the consumption of foods that are either contaminated or do not agree with the person's system. The most important thing to do is to minimize and restrict the effects of diarrhea by treating the symptoms at the onset.

Over the counter medications for the condition are easily available, but natural remedies for diarrhea would be a much better bet as they are just as effective and have no known side effects. Dietary measures are an important facet of treatment for the condition. Avoid having foods that have a high content of artificial sweeteners or sugar, as well as foods and beverages with a high caffeine content and fatty foods. Make it a point to eliminate regular table sugar, fried foods, colas, coffee, prunes, and diet foods completely from your diet. Follow a diet with whole grain breads, brown rice, bran, radishes, carrots, bananas, potatoes, oatmeal, and apples till the symptoms start to recede.

Fruits and herbal teas are probably the best natural remedy to provide relief from the symptoms. Fruit juices will help invigorate you and hydrate your system while providing you with much needed nutrition. Mix some lemon or orange juice with a cup of water and add some salt to it before drinking. Buttermilk, curd and carrot soup are also useful as diarrhea remedies and you can include them in your diet.
