Black spots on the face, Remedies to lighten or fade dark spots on face

Black spots are also commonly known as hyper pigmentation. It a generic skin problem and occurs mostly during the halfway point in one's life. The dark spots basically occur due to the production of excess melanin.


This pigment is necessary for giving color to the skin but when there is an excess amount it produced it results in the characteristic dark spot on one's skin. The main cause for this is over exposure to the sun and the medical term sometimes used is called solar lentigines. The dark spots are usually located on the areas of the skin that are most exposed to the sun, such as the hands and the face.


Sometimes though hyper pigmentation can also occur due to some trauma that the skin has encountered, such as an infection or a small scratch or as result of a birthmark, these birth marks usually occur in different shapes or sizes. A lot of times black spots are mistaken for freckles but these spots are much larger and are irregular in shape.

These black spots can be effectively treated by limiting the amount of time you spend in the sun without a proper sunscreen. Make sure to always wear a sunscreen that has a minimum SPF of 30.there are a variety of natural remedies that you can try and they are easily available at home. The first remedy that you can try is the juice of a lemon. A fresh lemon has a good amount of acid; enough to peel of the topmost layer of the skin. This can help at least lighten if not remove some of the age spots. You can even try applying a piece of red onion that is sliced in order to lighten or remove the spots. For the treatment to be effective it is recommended that you use it for at least two to three weeks.
