You may want to consider testing your thyroid function. Hyperthyroidism can be responsible for difficulty in gaining weight. If you have any other symptoms, a complete health check up is also an option.

Gaining weight really is not that important. What is important is staying fit. Some people are very thin but very healthy and fit. If you are thinking of gaining weight becuase other people or you yourself think you are thin, then you should really not worry about it - as long as you are healthy, active, fit and are able to do what any 20-year old person would do. There is a very good chance that you are "naturally thin". Some tips that we ca provide are: - Instead of gaining weight (fat) you must try and build you muscles. This mean you need to excercise regularly. This will also make you feel hungry and hence you may consume more food.
- To get those extra calories do not indulge on those milk shakes and fundges. Those will just you more fat. Try healthy low fat foods such as whole wheat (grain) bread, pasta, cereals - and some low fat dairy stuff like cottage cheese, skimmed milk.
- You can also eat fish and chicked without the skin.
- Do not get tempted by the "off the shelf" protien packages that claim to build muscles within no time.
I hope this helps to a certain extent.
