Tanning creams are beauty products which contain a substance known as di-hydroxy acetone (DHA). This ingredient chemically undergoes reaction with the topmost skin surface. Thus in effect producing the look of a natural golden tan.

The product is normally reliable and effective method to attain a tan that resembles one you could get in the summer. After application of the cream , in a few hours, the color of the skin changes into a golden sort of hue and it the tan lasts for a number of days till the uppermost layer of the skin gets gradually taken off due to shedding and wear and tear. The tanning products available are generally better skin colorants that existed until few years ago which would unevenly streak the skin and leave behind stains on clothing.

Some of these tanning or coloring agents can also be consumed orally. They generally contain carotenoids (they bear a distant relation to carotene which is found in carrots) that settle down on the fat and thus get to the epidermis via the sweat pores. Thus these ingestible agents give the skin a appearance of being tanned. However few of these agents end up giving an unnaturally orange tone. This happens due to the skin is being thicker on the area of the palms and on the foot soles; these areas thus become a deep orange when these agents are utilized. Thus getting the right kind of tan requires a certain amount of practice and knowledge of knowing how to apply the cream to your skin and the intensity of application. There are various ways in which you ca get rid of a tan. The first method involves the use of a nail varnish remover. All you have to do is put a little nail polish remover on a piece of cotton and rub the areas that require cleaning. Another remedy you can try is the use of a razor and a body scrub cream to remove the tan; both methods are more or less effective. You can also consult your doctor for further information.
