Is taking medication and natural supplements harmful for you? Such as, for example, high blood pressure medication and natural herbs, vitamins, minerals to cure it like omega-3's, garlic, calcium, flax, etc. Dietary supplements?

Orthodox medicine views the mind and body as separate entities ad hence relies in the use of drugs and invasive techniques to cure ailments. Alternative medicine however relies on the fact or rather acknowledges the fact that healing works with the body's ability to heal itself and the inbuilt mechanisms that are already present in the body for this purpose. Dietary supplements are made for the purpose of supplying nutrients like vitamins, fatty acids, minerals and amino acids that are in shortage or missing in a person's normal diet.


In some countries they are defined as drugs, but the majority of the countries accept them as supplements. These supplements basically contain improved micronutrients that provide health benefits when ingested.

The over consumption of anything is bad and hence the same goes for supplements and natural medication as it tends to have a disruptive effect on the body's natural functioning.


However the normal and measured consumption of natural supplements is perfectly normal ad there is nothing to worry about. If taken in the right quantities they are defiantly beneficial to your health. These supplements are manufactured keeping in minds the upper safe limits that are created by the regulatory bodies around the world. Definitely, eating a proper balanced diet that contains the right mount of fruits vegetables and mats can eliminate the need for supplements altogether, there are people who are not able to do this and for them taking supplements I moderation is a good option. This is especially so when a person needs an increase in the amount of nutrients supplied to the body, such as; during period of sickness or pregnancy. These supplements not only help provide nutritional requirements but aid the body in proper development and function. Therefore if you are consuming supplements in the right amounts that are pre approved to be of good quality and contain no harmful chemicals, then there is nothing to worry about.
