Bad breath natural cures

Treat halitosis
(27 Jun 2008)

Bad breath is a common problem that any of us can have. Unfortunately those who have it seldom know that they’re suffering from it.

Bad breath can cause many socially embarrassing situations for those who suffer from it and those who have to interact with them.

Fortunately though, bad breath isn’t the kind of problem that cannot be cured. In fact there are a lot of things around the house that can help you get rid of bad breath.

Fenugreek is one everyday household ingredient that has proven most successful with those who suffer from bad breath. Fenugreek seeds can be steeped in water and strained to obtain a tea. This tea helps to suppress the odor causing bacteria in the mouth and leaves a refreshing taste.

Bad breath can also be caused by putrefaction in the intestines. For bad breath that is the result of such putrefaction, avocado has been proven to be better than any other remedy. Avocado effectively removes decomposition in the stomach and intestines to remedy bad breath.

Unripe guava, another great remedy for halitosis, is rich in many acids and minerals. It also helps strengthen teeth and gums. If the cause for your bad breath is bleeding gums, then chewing unripe guava can certainly help. Both the fruit and its leaves help cure and prevent bleeding of the gums, thereby curing bad breath.

Boil a couple of coarsely chopped sprigs of parsley in water with a couple of cloves. Steep the parsley and cloves in the water for several minutes. While steeping the concoction, you can also add a couple of ground cloves to the water. Cool the mixture and keep stirring it as it cools. Strain the liquid and use it to rinse your mouth and gargle several times during the day with it. Drinking the juices of green vegetables like spinach can also help control bad breath.

Eating a good balanced diet can help prevent bad breath. Along with a balanced diet, try to avoid refined foods, meat, and eggs to keep your breath from going bad.

Maintain good oral hygiene and clean your teeth religiously twice a day. Remember to brush your teeth before you go to bed every night. If food particles get lodged into your teeth, carefully remove them with toothpicks. In case you have swollen or bleeding gums, or if you have decaying teeth, make an appointment with your dentist and get them checked. You might require medical help.

Home Cures for Bad Breath

Halitosis, or bad breath, has no one known cause. There are a number of things that can cause halitosis and these include foods like garlic and onions, medication, intestinal worms, and sinus problems. You could also suffer from this because you don't practice good dental hygiene and often have food trapped in the mouth. There are a number of ways in which you can treat bad breath.

The first thing you must do is to practice good oral health. You should ensure that you brush after each meal and use dental floss to clean out your teeth completely. A number of people usually neglect cleaning their tongues while brushing and this is a major cause of bad breath. You can also gargle with either a mixture of baking soda and water or with some lime juice mixed with water. One of the simplest ways to get rid of bad breath is to eat some mint leaves. This will cause a cool and refreshing feeling in your mouth. Eating certain fruits like apples and oranges will also help you keep bad breath at bay. Try not to skip breakfast as being on an empty stomach will only make your breath smell worse. You should also ensure that your stomach is functioning normally and that you do not have indigestion as this is also one cause of bad breath.
