Toothache Home Treatment
The most common cause of a tooth ache is tooth decay and tooth infections. This is usually caused by bad oral hygiene and a high consumption level of sugary and acidic drinks and food. The most common symptoms of a toothache are pain in the tooth which could be of different types - sharp and shooting pain or it could simply be a twinge that occurs when you eat or drink something hot or cold.
You could also experience pain while you are chewing your food or have a swelling around the affected area.
It is essential that you consult a dentist as soon as you feel the first symptoms of a toothache and until you can do so, there are a number of things that you can do to relieve the pain and discomfort.
- You should first wash your mouth thoroughly with warm water.
If your toothache is caused by food stuck in your mouth, a through rinse will help remove the stuck particle.
- You should also rinse with salt water as this will soothe the ache.
- Clove oil is the most effective remedy for toothaches. Either apply a drop of the oil on the affected tooth or apply it to a piece of cotton that you can then place on the tooth for constant relief.
- Ensure that you do not chew your food from the affected side of your mouth.
