Pink Eye Home Remedies
Conjunctivitis, is commonly referred to as Pink Eye, and is an infection or inflammation of the conjunctiva, a thin membrane, that lines the eyelids. The eyes and eyelids are kept moist by this membrane. Conjunctivitis is a very common eye infection that is easily treatable and affects all age groups.
The infection can be of two types; contagious and non-contagious, with children being more vulnerable than adults. The contagious type is caused by either a bacterial or viral infection, while the non-contagious type is a reaction caused by allergens.
There are a number of eye drops and ointments for the treatment of conjunctivitis that are readily available in almost all medical stores. These are very effective in the treatment of conjunctivitis caused by a bacterial or viral infection. They are supposed to be applied two to three times a day.
In cases of conjunctivitis caused by allergens, avoiding contact with the allergic trigger is the best solution. You can also use a cold compress around three to four times a day.
Along with these treatments you could also use rose water to sooth and give you relief from the irritation and pain. Leave a cotton swab soaked in rose water over the sty for a few minutes for quick relief.
