Pneumonia Causes and Cures
Pneumonia is a medical condition that involves inflammation of the lung and filling up of the lung with fluid. This typically causes a severe wet cough with yellowish sputum, and is usually accompanied by high fever, breathlessness, and chest pain. In some patients, coughing may be painful and may also bring up blood.
Other symptoms sometimes also appear, such as nausea, vomiting, weight loss, and body pain.
Pneumonia can be caused by a variety of infections, but can also be the result of injury to the lungs. The treatment depends on the cause of the condition, and as long as the condition is mild, not much treatment is needed. What is required is mainly lots of rest and fluids, and avoidance of anything that can aggravate the condition, such as tobacco smoke, pollution, and certain medications. In other cases, antibiotics or antifungal medications may be needed, while severe cases often require hospitalization.
It is always best to hand over the reigns to your doctor when suffering from pneumonia, as you will not always be able to tell at what point your condition becomes serious, and in addition, secondary infections can set in while your body is weak with pneumonia. Regular professional monitoring is therefore very important
