Itching & Burning Feet Tips

Itching and burning of the feet is unlikely to be due to arthritis or a bone spur. Both these conditions affect the bones or joints and involve pain; there is no reason for them to cause an itching or burning sensation. Itching and burning is more likely to be due to some sort of skin problem.

One possibility is some sort of fungal infection. For the next few weeks, change your socks daily, and if possible alternate between two different pairs of shoes as well, giving them time to air and dry. Fungal infections are worsened by moisture, and most measures involve keeping your feet and footwear clean and dry.

You should also wash your feet several times a day if possible, but at least every morning before leaving the house and a couple of times in the evening. Be sure to dry your feet thoroughly each time you wash them, before you put on your socks or shoes. In addition, before going to bed, you should soak your feet in a solution of vinegar and water for fifteen minutes.

If these measures do not work, you should visit a doctor. In some cases, there may be no problem with the skin itself, and the symptoms may be caused by more serious disorder such as diabetes or a kidney problem.
