Home remedies for Fungal Skin Infection
Athlete's foot is an extremely common fungal skin infection and is also called tinea pedis. Warm and moist or damp conditions provide the ideal environment for the fungus to thrive, like locker rooms, public showers, and indoor swimming pools.
There are home remedies that are quite effective and some basic practices and measures will also help in the prevention as well as treatment of the condition.
Its very important that you keep your feet dry and clean. Wash and dry the affected area thoroughly at least twice a day and use a cool compress for relief and to stop inflammation. This will also ease the pain and significantly reduce the itching.
Another effective treatment that you should also include is a warm salt water soak for your feet. Let your feet soak in the salt water for around five to ten minutes at least twice daily. A paste made with baking soda and water is also quite useful and you can apply it between the toes and on the soles of your feet. Leave it on for ten minutes after which you can rinse and dry your feet well. After having rinsed and dried your feet you can dust them with talcum powder or cornstarch.
